Pallet Racking in Cape Town
Pallet racking is a modular, fully adjustable racking system for storing palletised goods, and it’s the backbone of almost every warehouse. Rackstore designs, manufactures and installs pallet racking across South Africa, from a few bays to full high volume distribution centres.
Pallet Racking Configurations We Design and Install
Narrow Aisle Racking
Squeezes more rows into the same floor by shrinking the aisles, paired with the right handling equipment. We’ve built systems around specific machines before, including one designed for an electric multidirectional sideloader.
Drive-In Racking
High density storage where forklifts drive directly into the rack structure. Ideal for large volumes of uniform products where floor space matters more than individual pallet access.
Mobile Racking
Racks mounted on powered bases that move to open an aisle only where you need one. It can nearly double the capacity of the same floor area.
Gravity Flow Racking
Pallets load at the back and roll forward on inclined tracks, giving you automatic first in, first out stock rotation. A natural fit for date sensitive goods.
High Rise Racking
When the cheapest space in your warehouse is the air above your head, high rise racking uses the building’s full height for maximum vertical storage.

Pallet Racking FAQs
How much weight can pallet racking hold?
Capacity depends on the beam length, frame depth and how the racking is configured, which is why every Rackstore system is specified for your actual loads. Beam levels are rated per pair, and we mark safe working loads on the installed racking. Tell us your heaviest pallet and we'll design around it with a safety margin.
What's the difference between drive-in and narrow aisle racking?
Drive-in racking stores pallets several deep, so it holds the most product per square metre but suits large quantities of the same item. Narrow aisle racking keeps every pallet individually accessible while shrinking the aisles between rows. Choose drive-in for density, narrow aisle for selectivity.
Do you install pallet racking outside Cape Town?
Yes. We're based in Blackheath, Cape Town, and most of our work is in the Western Cape, but we install across South Africa and beyond. We've completed racking projects in Johannesburg, Nigeria and Zambia, so distance is rarely the deciding factor. It comes down to the project.
